GARDEN is a touring exhibition of my sculpted textiles and beadwork in natural settings photographed by award winning garden photographer Lynn Keddie. GARDEN started as a series of creatures, snail, caterpillar, moth, and four ‘fairies’. The way we create imaginary worlds as children is lost to all but a precious few as adults.

“Magic is a slippery thing to define, dispersing into dust motes in the afternoon sun if examined too closely” (Charlotte Sinclair, Vogue 2008).

Our intention is to remind our audience to take time out from everything sensible, to remember imagining and to enjoy. The response of visitors to the exhibition is touching. Many returned several times, bringing new friends. Some sat and recounted childhood memories of magic and imagination. Our favourite was a lady who told us that after visiting the show she spent the next morning watching a passion flower unfurl. Mission accomplished!

The GARDEN project really should become a book one day...
